The idea of Dawson Construction started during a family trip home for Christmas in 1961. Ralph read in the newspaper about a local company up for sale and decided to go and take a look. In February 1962, Ralph received a call that it was his future to purchase Roundhurst Construction and with help from Marlys, Dawson’s Construction was formed.
Ralph and Marlys started off small, with just them and two other workers inherited from the previous company. They purchased four vehicles, two motor graders and two snow plows and formed
Dawson Construction. They were awarded contracts for road maintenance and snow removal for the 16 townships in Miner county.
In the 10 years that followed, Dawson Construction landed their first big contract with Prostrollo’s Auto Plaza and added gravel hauling and garbage pick up for the City of Howard. Along with the new services offered, one of their son’s, Randy, joined the family business in ‘75 to help with the expanding workload with Dan following a few years later in ’88. With the help of local interest, Dawson Construction celebrated a major milestone by becoming Incorporated in 1993.
Now over 59 years later, we are still a family business and have expanded our service area to 15 towns, 8 counties and approximately 600 miles of roads to maintain.
With the past 59 years, a time of learning and experience, we here at Dawson Construction Inc. look forward to offering quality service to the community and surrounding areas for many years to come.
